EAT, BE MERRY & GENERATE HOPE    …….BANQUET DINNER AND SILENT AUCTION
SHS STUDENTS RAISING  MONEY FOR GUATEMALAN ORPHANAGE THEY VISITED – OCTOBER 24
Groups of SHS students have been have been visiting the Hogar Santa Maria de Guadalupe Orphanage for the past several years.  The Hogar, as it is fondly known, is a home for 81 children or orphans coming from families that are too poor to support them or from homes of abuse and neglect.
Our experiences at the Hogar, and love for the orphans, inspired us to create the SHS Student Club “Solidarity Hogares” to raise money for the Hogar.  Last year, we raised over $3500 which helped with the base costs of education, food and clothes for the children.  This year we are hoping to pay for a generator for the orphanage.
Our major fundraiser this year will be GENERATING HOPE, which will be held on October 24th at Shorewood’s Hubbard Park Lodge.  We invite you to this event, which will include a
·         banquet dinner
·         silent auction
·         short presentation about our relationship to the orphanage
·         skype conversation with some of the kids (depending on the shaky internet connection at the Hogar)!
Please help us with this worthy cause.  You’ll have fun, and you’ll know you are helping 81 orphans in a tangible way.  If you cannot attend, please consider making a donation.  For more information, to rsvp, to see a photo of some of us and the orphans, and to make a donation, go to http://solidarityhogaresshorewood.eventbrite.com. Thank you for your time and generosity and we hope to see you at GENERATING HOPE!

The GENERATING HOPE event is open to both teens and adults.  All are welcome, whether your child has been part of a trip, is considering a trip or you just wants to support this great cause.  Come with a friend, a spouse, your teen, or by yourself… but come!
